Intensive alcohol and drug abuse treatment, mandatory and frequent drug testing, accountability through use of appropriate and quick sanctions for non-compliant behavior, incentives and recognition for hard work, continuous judicial oversight and employment and other services needed in order to enter long-term recovery and become productive members of society.

The District Courts are courts of general jurisdiction and process all felony cases, all probate cases, most civil cases at law and in equity, certain special actions and proceedings, all civil actions that may result in a finding against the state for the payment of money, naturalization proceedings, various writs, and some narrowly-defined ballot issues.

In Eureka Criminal Courts, the government brings a case against a defendant who is accused of breaking the law. The Libby City Court, located in Libby, Montana is a government institution where legal disputes are resolved in accordance with the law. In Libby Criminal Courts, the government brings a case against a defendant who is accused of breaking the law. In Libby Civil Courts, the Court settles disputes between citizens that they are unable to resolve on their own.

Libby Justice Court is the judicial branch of county government responsible for processing misdemeanor criminal offenses, traffic offenses and Fish & Game violations. It is also the court where most people arrested for felony offenses have their initial appearance and bail set. Justice Court also handles civil cases, small claims, landlord tenant issues and orders of protection.

The Libby Police Department has the responsibility of preserving the peace, responding to law enforcement service requests and protecting life and property within the Libby City limits. Police officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to respond to calls for service, prevention of crimes, investigation of criminal activity, apprehension of suspects, and the investigation of traffic accidents.

The County Attorney is the legal adviser to the Board of County Commissioners, all elected officials of Lincoln County, Fire Districts, Weed Districts, School Districts, Health Department, and Conservation Districts. The County Attorney is the Public Prosecutor and prosecutes all felonies in Lincoln County, as well as misdemeanors which occur in the county and outside city limits.
